Sheryl Smith-Rodgers, a sixth-generation Texan, has written on and photographed a variety of topics. An award-winning writer, she’s been published in numerous state and national newspapers and magazines. She and her husband, James Hearn, live in the Texas Hill Country. At Window on a Texas Wildscape, she blogs about the native habitat they tend at their home. So far, Sheryl's documented approximately 1,436 species in their yard using iNaturalist! She is a Texas Master Naturalist and a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. In 2024, she was diagnosed with Dupuytren's disease in her left hand, which led her to share her journey here in hopes of helping and educating others.
